As we are in the season of Eastertide – the other side of the Resurrection – and “sheltering in place” in our homes, let us reflect on the places where Jesus has already prepared for us to dwell with him. Here. Now. Today. Eternity. Can we imagine a place even now, where we can always be with the risen Christ?
Keep listening to the longings deep within your soul. The Holy Spirit will guide you towards a place called home.
John 14:1-4 (NLT)
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”
John 14:1-4 (MSG)
“Don’t let this throw you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home. If that weren’t so, would I have told you that I’m on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live. And you already know the road I’m taking.”
For Reflection and Prayer:
Was there a word, phrase or image which caught your attention you as you listened to or slowly read the text? Quietly reflect on it in your prayer with Jesus. Journal your conversation.
Was there any particular emotion which emerged as you listened to the scripture? Talk it over with Jesus in your prayer.
Do you ever long for home? Draw or write about that longing. Be as descriptive as possible.
Savor any consoling words or pictures as you quietly rest in God.
